This tool is currently unavailable
The background remover on this page does not work right now, and the upload button above is deliberately inert rather than failing after you pick a file. Unlike the rest of ZipConvert, background removal cannot run in your browser: it needs a trained segmentation model executing on a server, and no such service is connected to this site at the moment. Rather than take your image, send it somewhere, and return an error, the tool tells you up front.
There is no free quota, no daily allowance and no paid tier that unlocks it. Premium subscriptions across ZipConvert are on hold, so nothing on this page is being withheld pending an upgrade โ the capability simply is not running for anyone.
What to use instead
For a one-off cutout, the built-in tools on your own devices are the fastest route and keep the photo local. On an iPhone or iPad, press and hold the subject in the Photos app and choose Copy Subject. On a Mac, the same gesture works in Preview and Quick Look. Windows 11's Paint and Photos apps both include a Remove Background command. For anything more demanding, GIMP (free) and Photoshop both offer selection and masking tools that give you control an automatic remover cannot.
If you only need a clean, consistent image rather than true transparency, several ZipConvert tools do work and run entirely in your browser. Crop tightly around the subject with the image cropper, resize to the exact dimensions a marketplace or slide deck expects with the image resizer, and shrink the file for upload with the image compressor.
Once you have a transparent PNG from somewhere else, ZipConvert can take it the rest of the way. Add captions or branding with the text overlay tool, add a watermark with the watermark tool, or convert it for the web with the PNG to WebP converter. Note that saving a transparent PNG as JPG will fill the transparent areas with a solid colour, because JPEG has no alpha channel โ the PNG to JPG converter explains how that works.
Why background removal can't run in your browser
Nearly every tool on ZipConvert works on your own machine: the image tools draw to a canvas, the archive converter runs a WebAssembly build of libarchive. Both are ordinary code with a fixed, modest size. Background removal is a different kind of problem โ separating a subject from its backdrop reliably means running a neural network trained on millions of image pairs, and the model weights alone run to tens or hundreds of megabytes before any inference happens.
Shipping that to every visitor as a download is not realistic, so services that offer background removal run the model on their own hardware and charge for the compute. That is a real cost per image, which is why free tiers elsewhere are metered. ZipConvert has no such service wired up, and we would rather say so plainly than leave a button that quietly fails.
Frequently asked questions
Can I remove a background here at all โ even once?
No. There is no free allowance, because there is nothing running to allow access to. The button above is disabled rather than hidden so that this page can explain the situation instead of returning a 404 to anyone who has bookmarked it.
Would paying for Premium enable it?
No. Premium subscriptions are on hold site-wide, and background removal is not gated behind a plan โ it is switched off entirely. Every feature that does work on ZipConvert is free for everyone right now.
Is my image uploaded when I visit this page?
Nothing is uploaded, because the tool will not accept a file in the first place. No image leaves your device from this page.
Will it come back?
We are not going to promise a date. If background removal returns, this page will describe what it actually does at that point. Until then, treat it as unavailable and use one of the alternatives above.
Which image tools on ZipConvert do work?
All the ones that run in the browser: format conversion between JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, ICO and TIFF, plus resizing, cropping, compression, rotation, flipping, blur, sharpen, brightness, contrast, saturation, grayscale, borders, watermarks and text overlays. Browse them from the image tools index.
